TOURIST ATTRACTIONS
SUN RISE
Kanyakumari is especially popular in India for its spectacular and unique sunrise . The confluence of three ocean bodies – the Bay of Bengal, the Indian Ocean, and the Arabian Sea – makes the sunrise and sunset even more special. On balmy, full-moon evenings, (locally called Chitra Pournami) one can also see the moon-rise and sunset at the same time – on both sides of the horizon.
KANYAKUMARI BEACH
On the main beach is a must while on a tour of Kanyakumari. Known as Kanyakumari Beach, the shoreline attracts of tourists especially during the winter months. While travellers are not allowed to take a dip into the waters owing to rocky patches in between. However, a walk on the soft sands a little away in the evening with our significant other while watching the orange sun set across the horizon is an experience.
VIVEKANANDA ROCK MEMORIAL
As the name suggests, the Vivekananda Rock Memorial was built to commemorate the great religious reformer Swami Vivekananda. Opened to the public in 1970, the rock memorial is a major tourist attraction in Kanyakumari. The rock memorial comprises two main structures-the Vivekananda Mandapam and the Shripada Mandapam.
THIRUVALLUVAR STATUE
The gigantic statue of Tamil Poet Thiruvalluvar, standing atop an island few metres into the sea is one of the major tourist attractions of Kanyakaumari. Standing tall at 133 feet, the statue of Thiruvalluvar was opened to the public in 2000. The statue stands on a three-tier pedestal, known as the Atharapeedam which is further surrounded by a 38 feet Alankara Peedam.
GANDHI MEMORIAL MANDAPAM
The Gandhi Memorial, built in memory of the Father of the Nation, is yet another major tourist attraction in Kanyakumari. After his death, his ashes were immersed in the Triveni Sangam, here in Kanyakumari. The architecture of the memorial closely resembles Hindu Shrines of Central India. Which is why man address it as the Gandhi Mandapam. While in Kanyakumari, a visit to the revered place is a must.
OUR LADY OF RANSOM CHURCH
Dedicated to Mother Mary, Our Lady of the Ransom Church is one of the most revered places of worship in Kanyakumari. The religious shrine ends up attracting a lot of pilgrims and travellers round the year. The astounding Gothic architecture of the church always leaves everyone in awe. ECO PARK
Well maintained government park with kids play area. More than a acre land with green. Entrance ticket for adult is 20₹ and during my visit they organized flower exhibition which cost 50₹. Worthy visit with kids and family. Plan during evening time. Restrooms available but no eateries/water. So plan for that especially if you travel with kids and senior citizens.
BHAGAVATHI AMMAN TEMPLE
Situated on the seashore of Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu, overlooking the sea, this Kumari Amman Temple is dedicated to the virgin Goddess Devi Kanyakumari. Kumari Amman Temple is said to be over 3000 years old. The Devi stands as a charming young girl in her penance, with a rosary in her right hand. A sparkling nose jewel sheds lustrous radiance. The image, made of blue stone, is believed to have been installed by sage Parasurama.
TIRUPATHI TEMPLE
Tirupati Venkataeswara Temple Kanyakumari on the sea shores. High divinity maintained felting a peace of mind and energy to all those who visit here. The temple can be entered without any hurdles and the main shrine of the lord is seated straight from the entrance itself and so all can have agood view from the outside itself.
BHARAT MATHA TEMPLE
Bharat Mata Temple is a kind of museum. On the ground flood ,there is whole ramayan is described in pictorial as well as in short story form. And on first floor there is another statues. The pictures which is painted is so beautiful and it feels so realistic. Unfortunately photography or videos are not allowed. Outside the temple/museum there is lord Hanuman statue which is so precisely is carved.
VATTAKOTTAI FORT
he fort is very beautiful and is a great place for picnic. The fort is mostly surrounded by the sea and watching from the fort is very pleasant. The seashore is full of coconut trees which gives a greenery look. Picturesque view of sea on one side and Western Ghats (hill) on the other side is awesome.
PADMANABHAPURAM PALACE
The green Veli hills form the perfect backdrop, for this magnificent white and brown palace, that is often touted as the pinnacle of Kerala style of architecture. Padmanabhapuram palace is the largest wooden palace in Asia and is standing strong since centuries providing a glimpse into the golden past of the Travancore rulers.
THIRPARAPPU WATER FALLS
Enjoy a boat ride at leisure or relax on the petite rocky island on a visit to the Thirparappu Falls in the state of Tamil Nadu, Kanyakumari. You can also pay visit to the famous Mahadeva Temple which stands at the entrance of the falls. The falls are scanty during the summer season while it looks grand with lavish showers during the monsoons.

KANYAKUMARI PIER
An extension of about 500 meters from Kanyakumari into the sea. You can take your bikes on this tier till almost the end. After a point there is no path and only stones on which you can jump and reach the end of pier. Its a relatively unexplored area and only locals come here. You can sit here and enjoy the waves hitting the rocks.
